Vedic Memory Secret

Thousands of years ago, before the written word, the Vedas were recorded in hymns. The Rig-Veda which is one of the longest of Vedic recitals would take 8 hours to recite. This was done of course by memory or maybe more accurately, “by heart”!

That kind of memory simply doesn’t exist today, perhaps because we have books and computers to constantly remind us.

The memory is dependent on many bio-chemical factors but none quite as important as a neurotransmitter called GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid).

GABA is a crucial brain chemical that calms the mind and filters out distractions. Without it we would have trouble remembering what to get at the grocery store. Sound familiar?

Interestingly, the Vedic Pundits who chanted the Vedas regularly took an Ayurvedic herb called Bacopa or Bacopa monnieri.

Bacopa contains a set of chemicals that naturally help the body produce more GABA. These chemicals also support the health of the nerve transmissions in the brain so we can send and receive messages without the clutter and forgetfulness.

Studies on Bacopa have shown that:

Bacopa improves memory (1).
Bacopa boosts the retention of NEW information (2).
Bacopa helps block out distractions when recalling lists of words – like on a grocery list! (3).

For both adult and kids, consider boosting memory, cognitive and brain function with a natural and common herb that has been used successfully for thousands of years – Bacopa.
