Attached is a video clip from CNN, in which the renowned mycologist, Paul Stamets, discusses medicinal mushrooms. He explains how his mother went from having a stage four cancer in June 2009 to becoming cancer free by using Turkey Tail mushroom (Coriolus Versicolor) in addition to two popular pharmaceutical drugs — in just 12 short months.

According to Stamets, Turkey Tail mushroom has been studied in clinical trials because its breast cancer fighting properties. It helps increase immunity and helps the body fight tumors, especially when used in connection with traditional treatments.

“All mushrooms have unique molecular structure. They are like mini pharmaceutical factories. Just like plants are different, mushrooms are different,” states Stamets.

There are over 150,000 different known species of mushroom in the world. Stamets and his partner grow 250 mushroom species at their facility. “These mushrooms”, Stamets says, “have anti-cancer properties, they enhance the immune system, they are anti-inflammatory and have antioxidant, antiviral and antibacterial properties. They also restrict blood vessels feeding tumors. What drug can do that? None,” Stamets points out.

You don’t have to eat or grow medicinal mushrooms to enjoy their health enhancing properties. Turkey Tail mushroom, or Coriolus Versicolor is widely available as a dietary supplement. Other popular medicinal mushrooms include Reishi (Ganoderma Lucidum), Cordyceps, Agaricus Blazei Murill, as well as common edible mushrooms, such as Shiitake and Maitake.
